As a high-energy volunteer troupe, The Boston Minstrel Company brings pop songs and microphones, guitars, drums, and amplifiers to many who are in need of a creative outlet and a cheerful community. On regular visits to shelters, transitional housing, prisons and other venues, Minstrel volunteers invite audiences to celebrate life. At songfests, BMC goals include:

• building trust and group solidarity through audience participation;
  
• encouraging self-expression, which can reduce stress levels;
  
• stimulating self-respect, respect for others and positive participant reaction;
  
• inspiring action and self-confidence for new opportunities and personal change.
